I agree that having taxpayers pay their taxes directly to the government four times a year would be a great way to get people interested in how their money is spent. Of course, this bill will unfortunately never again see the light of day. I mentioned this idea to a liberal acquaintance of mine. His argument against it, like any argument I've heard from any liberal, is that we can't trust people to do it themselves - we have to have somebody do it for them. When I countered that for the last two years he's been vehemently arguing against allowing companies to have too much control over the economy but now wants to allow them to have this massive control, he didn't have a response. The way I understood it, the AZ law is only about finding illegals, then turning them over to the feds so that the federal law can be followed.
